Title of Icebreaker: “Two-Minute Mixer”

 

Grade Level: 9-12

 

Creative Art: Movement

 

Modality: Group

 

Duration: 15-20 minutes (dependent on number of students)

 

Materials:

-large classroom

-timer (clock or watch)​

 

Instruction (10-15 minutes):

1. Ask students to get up, pair up, and chat for 2 minutes with each other about whatever interests them. You’ll be the timer.

2. Inform students when 2 minutes are up, at which point everyone must find a new partner and chat for the next 2 minutes.

3. If time permits, try to get everyone to have 2 minutes with each other student.

 

Debrief (5 minutes):

Discuss the exercise with the class, asking questions such as:

-How many new people did you meet?

-Did you find something in common with anyone else in the room?

-What was the most interesting thing you learned about someone?
